Brief Description
The MSc in OT program has been designed for graduate OTs to support continuous professional development and facilitate advanced OT practice. With a contemporary and evidence-based curriculum, the MSc in OT program will deepen the knowledge and skills of OTs in a broad range of areas. The program integrates theory with practice, clinical placement, and thesis.
The subjects have been selected considering the priority of disability and rehabilitation interest of the Government of Bangladesh to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The MSc in OT program will develop the skills of OTs in innovative leadership, user involvement, research, and eco-sustainable community development. It will also build an in-depth and critical knowledge of the contribution of occupation to health and wellness. The teaching will be delivered through creative, experiential, and reflective learning approaches supported by practice placements. Students will learn from a dedicated, skilled team of experienced educators in a broad spectrum of OT roles.
Vision
The vision of the MSc in Occupational Therapy program is to prepare graduate Occupational Therapists to meet the ever-changing occupational performance needs of individuals to promote their health, well-being, and optimum level of participation through evidence-based occupational therapy practice.
Objectives of the Program
The objectives of the Master of Science in OT program are:
- To advance the practice of graduate OTs and shape their future career.
- To foster an understanding of OTs as potential future leaders of their respective fields.
- To develop a critical perspective of the science of occupation and its application to society.
- To enable the graduate OTs to serve the people with disabilities and people prone to the disability with utmost skills to meet their diverse needs.
- To acquire the skills of conducting research in respective fields.
- To cultivate a sense of civic responsibility, culturally respectful and meaningful contribution through becoming a skilled and committed health professional.
- To engage critically and creatively with the global challenges of delivering health care practice and exploring innovative local solutions for Bangladesh.
- To enable graduate OTs to collaborate with multidisciplinary health care professionals to ensure the best available service.
Qualifications and Admission Requirement
- The candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised university.
- The candidates must have completed a one-year internship/ one-year working experience relevant to occupational therapy from any recognised hospital/ institution/ organisation.
Admission Test
Admission tests will consist of written and oral examinations or a set of criteria by the examination committee

Evaluation and Assessment
The student’s performance in each subject will be evaluated based on Written Examination, Oral-Practical, and Coursework. Students must obtain 60% Marks separately in both sections (Written + Formative) and (Oral-Practical + Coursework).
Award
After passing Part – I and Part – II with at least 60% marks in each subject, a student will be awarded the degree of Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.
