Overview

The Physiotherapy Department of Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI) was established in 1992. The aim of the department is to produce highly skilled physiotherapy professional who will provide services in health care provision and Rehabilitation country wide. At present, the department is offering 4 different programs on Physiotherapy including:

1. Master of Science in Physiotherapy (M.Sc. PT)
2. Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (B.Sc. PT)
3. Diploma in Medical Technology (Physiotherapy)
4. Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) program

Background

Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI) was established in 1992 with the aim of developing highly skilled multidisciplinary health professionals. BHPI is the academic institute of Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) which offers different courses at Master, Bachelor, Diploma and certificate levels. Students of BHPI have a good external exposure while on clinical placements in Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, National Institute of Diseases of Chest and Hospitals (NIDCH), National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) and many other institutions.

CRP is a renowned placement venue for national and international physiotherapy students. Students have the opportunity to work with musculoskeletal, neurological, pediatric and spinal cord injury (SCI) patients. CRP is also one of the leading spinal cord injury rehabilitation centers in South Asia.

Infrastructural Facilities

BHPI provides its students with a clean, spacious and organized campus with modern teaching facilities. The classes are supported by modern teaching technologies. BHPI has unlimited internet access for the faculties, staff and students.

Library

BHPI has a full digitally enriched library including more than 10,000 books, journals and other learning materials. Students of BHPI can access journals from different world renowned publishers via the HINARI website, which is managed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

BHPI has links with BRACKEN Health Sciences Library, Queen’s University Canada and the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (INASP).

Computer Lab

BHPI has a comprehensive computer lab facility which is accessible to all students. The library also provides scanner, internet access and photocopy facilities with minimal cost.
