MSc in Physiotherapy

Name of the Program: Master of Science in Physiotherapy (MSc PT)
Affiliating Authority: Faculty of Medicine, University of Dhaka

Vision: To prepare professional physiotherapists with the advanced level skills needed for patient centered evidence based practice, and to educate, lead, and conduct research.

Mission: To educate professional qualified Physiotherapists who will be able to deliver appropriate and high quality level of health care services to meet the diverse needs of people.

Objectives of the Program:

• To enhance knowledge and skills of qualified physiotherapists to improve patient care
• To provide educational experience that improves clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
• To provide educational experience that facilitates evidence based practice, community service, education and research
• To encourage engagement in Inter-professional collaborative practice
• To train graduates who will demonstrate leadership in Physiotherapy at local, national, and international levels
• To meet the emerging needs of ethical, competent and caring physiotherapists

Duration: Two years
Date of Commencement: July in each year


a) Eligibility:

The candidates must have a Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent degree from the Government recognised University. The candidates must have completed one-year internship training or related working experience in any recognised hospital or organisation approved by the authority.

b) Admission Procedure:

An examination committee will be formed by the institution to admit students in this course. The Dean or a representative of Dean of faculty of Medicine of Dhaka University must be included in that committee. Usually candidate will be selected for the program based on merit through previous academic records, admission test and experience. Admission test will be consisting of written and oral examinations or set of criteria by the examination committee.
